FAQ

Let us answer your questions

HOW DO YOUR ADVENTURES WORK?

Its easy! Charter one of our vehicles and go on an unforgettable adventure around Cape Town.

You decide what to do and where to go. Pick an Active Adventure, where you combine a fun fit activity with a chilled experience, like Hiking Table Mountain followed by a Craft Beer Tour! Or opt for one of our stand alone Chilled Adventures, where you get to experience some of the best of the Cape with out the exercise.

We’ve created a list of suggestions to give you a little inspiration and point you in the right direction. Contact us when you are ready and we will sort out all of the arrangements. Our charter service will fetch you on the day and get you to your chosen destinations safely. Let the adventures begin!

WHAT IS A CHARTER SERVICE?

It’s a transport solution for a group of people who have a common destination, or group of destinations in mind. The vehicle is then used exclusively by them, and they decide where to go and when. However not every visitor to Cape Town knows where they want to go or what they want to do, that’s why we have created a list of different adventures and combinations, along with time and travel guidelines to help them decide.

Besides our Adventure day trips, we also offer standard Shuttle services > See HERE

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM GROUP SIZE?

We like to keep things small, so the biggest group size we accept is 6 guests per vehicle. The minimum group size is 2, as it is uneconomical for a solitary guest to go on a trip alone unless they have the budget.

WILL THERE BE ANYONE ELSE ON THE VEHICLE?

The vehicle will used exclusively by you and your group. There will be no strangers on the vehicle, other than the driver and/or guide.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CREATE MY OWN DAY?

Seen something that you would like to do that’s not on our list? We can make it happen! Chat to us and together we will design a day which meets your needs and interests.

*Please note that creating a unique day may take a little bit longer to design, and we may need up to 3 days prep time and to make sure your requests are open/functioning and that there is space.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ACTIVE AND CHILLED ADVENTURE?

Active Adventures are day trips which combine a fun fit activity with a relaxed sight seeing adventure around Cape Town. So it’s an Active and Chilled experience in one. Our Chilled Adventures are stand alone day trips for those that want to enjoy the best of Cape Town, but without the exercise…think wine and beer tours, Cape Point trips and more.

WHY DO SOME ACTIVE ADVENTURES HAVE LIMITED CHILLED ADVENTURE OPTIONS?

Due to the vast distances between certain locations, travel time can become a significant factor. From our experience guests would prefer to spend as little time in the vehicle as possible, so we try to chose adventures that are relatively close to each other and that means we have to limit the amount of options available. However in certain instances long travel times cant be avoided, for example hiking Table Mountain followed by a wine or craft beer tour of Franschhoek, or a Tour of the Peninsula which will involve a lot of time on the vehicle.

WHY IS CAPE POINT NOT AVAILABLE AS AN ADD-ON TO YOUR ACTIVE ADVENTURES?

Cape point gets extremely busy during peak season of Nov – April, and to avoid the queues we need to get there early. With our Cape Point Adventure packages we will collect you at 6am, and make our way to Cape Point with the intention of being some of the first people through the gate. If we had to do a Fit activity, at a separate location, before we go through to Cape Point, we will end up arriving at mid day and wasting valuable time sitting in long queues.

WHAT IF I DONT WANT TO DRINK?

We will happily swap out the alcohol for something else, just let us know beforehand so that we can adjust your quote and itinerary accordingly. We still recommend visiting the wine farms, as the views, food and atmosphere are always top notch.

WHY USE A MOUNTAIN GUIDE?

We get asked this one a lot! People often go into the mountains unprepared, after some post they saw on social media. They dont realise that the weather on top of a mountain is completely different to that at the base, and they make the mistake of assuming that just because its nice at the base it’ll be the same at the top. The job of a mountain guide is to keep you safe. They know the route, how much water is needed, what clothing and shoes to wear…all the little details that people sometimes gloss over in their excitement to climb a mountain. These little things can mean the difference between life or death.

What are you going to do when you are at the top, far away from safety when all of a sudden mist pulls in? The weather app didn’t say anything about mist! Yet here it is, and now you are cold and wet. You didn’t bring any warm clothing because of the weather app. There is no cell phone signal either, and you need to find shelter. This is where a mountain guide will make all the difference.

WHAT IS SCRAMBLING?

“Scrambling is “a walk up steep terrain involving the use of one’s hands”. It is an ambiguous term that lies somewhere between hiking, hillwalking, and easy mountaineering and rock climbing. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential – Wikipedia”

Scrambling refers to a technique used to scale boulders, uneven terrain, or rock faces. Here one would make use of their hands and feet. It is not quite climbing, but in some instances it definitely may feel like it is. The term is open to interpretation, with different levels of experience making the grading of scrambling subjective.

Scrambling itself may not be that difficult, but what makes it intimidating is the fact that it is often paired with exposure, where if you fall you may cause serious injury to yourself.

Some of the routes we offer involve scrambling, but we will let you know ahead of time. The routes we follow have been summited many times in the past, and by hikers with little to no experience. It all comes down to your ability to deal with heights, and if you have enough strength and mobility to lift yourself up.

WHAT IS LEAVE NO TRACE?

It is a set of principles and best practices promoted and followed by responsible mountain guides, outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers, to help ensure the continued enjoyment and use of the outdoors by all. Every time we go out into nature we leave some kind of impact, and the aim is to reduce that impact as much as possible and ensure that generations to come may continue to enjoy what we get to enjoy today.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?

Dont worry, this isn’t a fitness bootcamp! Yes, we want you to burn some calories before your sight seeing adventure, but we don’t want you to be so exhausted that you don’t enjoy the rest of the day. Thats why we focus on the fun side of fitness, and cater to all fitness levels. As long as you are mobile, and don’t have anything preventing you from exercising, you will be able to manage any of our adventures. If you have any concerns speak to us and we will advise you accordingly.

WHY MUST WE BOOK IN ADVANCE?

We make use of independent service providers, such as surf and sea kayak operators, and have to make our bookings directly with them. We are therefore subject to their availability, and in order to provide you with the service you require we need to book in advance.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Under the current pandemic we aim to be as flexible and helpful as possible. However FFACT makes use of independent service providers, and we are therefore subject to their T&C’s and refund policies. Should a cancellation be required it would be advisable to try select a new date. If that’s not possible, a refund of up to 85% may be provided if notified more than 7 days from the day of your adventure, and up to 50% if cancelling more than 2 days from the day of your adventure, dependent on the independent service providers T&C’s and refund policies. Unfortunately there will be no refunds for cancellations made on the day. See our T&C’s here

ADVENTURE TO REMEMBER!

Don’t worry, we get this question often! Cape Town has so many things to see and do, people get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. So they stick to the obvious choices, waste time and money and forget about their health.

We do things slightly differently, we want to take you on a fun fitness adventure around Cape Town, where you get to see some of our favourite spots and stay fit at the same time. We break the day up into 2 sections, the first where you get involved in a fun physical activity, and then the second where you get to enjoy the sights, sounds, food and wine of Cape Town. We give you the options, and you mix and match them. Then you send us a message with your choices and we contact you to set it up.

So you could pair up Learning to Surf with a Craft Beer Tour, or a Peninsula Tour. Or choose to Hike in Franschhoek and then go wine tasting. Have a look at our Most Popular options to get an idea.
